the sheer spherical kitchen inspires a new vision for kitchen design. the unusual design is completely self-contained and low maintenance, and even provides soft intimate light when closed. the upper half rises and attaches itself to the ceiling by a remote control. while the lower half houses, a circular worktop, a double sink, four burners, three bottle coolers, a retractable tray and trolley, as well looking sleek, what more could you ask for…

alkemi

Renewed materials has developed an innovative new recycled composite product called alkemi which is created by binding aluminium scrap with resin resulting in a striking new solid surface material. It comes in a variety of colours, patterns and can be custom shaped, sanded, buffed to fit a variety of applications including countertops, tables, sinks, and tiles. It is visually compelling, definitely worth checking out.

toyo ito

toyo ito has been collaborating with horm for a few years now. notable work is the award winning ripples bench above which blends together six different types of wood - white maple, beech, cherry, walnut and mahogany. the depressions on the bench reflects the rings of a tree trunk, and ripples in water. also the bookshelf sendai inspired by one of his architectural works, reflecting manipulation, flexibility and transparency. both are stunning.

torbjorn lundell has produced this beautiful new light emitting textile called glofab.

“sunlight or the light from an electric illuminator is lead into an optic fibre that has been treated and bent so that it has started to radiate light. the result makes on think about a nocturnal winter landscape where the snow glistens in the moonlight or a glittering lake on a bright day. by controlling the flow of light the material can go from being purely decorative to becoming a primary light source.”

mealbox by igland design is a japanese style dining table and chairs, that can all be packed in one box and taken anywhere. made of reinforced birch plywood, the seats are padded with neoprene rubber. very clever and a good solution for small spaces.

corbusier inspired bathing

le cob is a glass bathtub designed by Joseph Licciardi for Omvivo, an austrian firm. It is inspired by le corbusier’s chaise lounge, and as well as being visually elegant is stylish and luxurious.
